About Us:
Dave Foley’s roots are in Ireland. His great-grandfather emigrated from there in 1850 to escape poverty. For the next 130 years, the Foleys made Indiana home (some still do), becoming part of the fabric of this country. In 1980, Dave, Nancy, and their four young children completed the ancestral journey by moving to California. They have settled in San Diego: Nancy, a poet; Erin (attorney) and Sheila (para-legal), both working with Dave in his law practice; Katie, a special needs teacher; and Tim, a teacher and Irish musician. The family has grown with three sons-in-law and four grandchildren.
Dave Foley is happy that he practices trust law because a living trust protects a family’s inheritance. He says: “There is great satisfaction in giving clients the straightforward living trusts that they want.”!
Attorney Erin C. Foley has been working with her father in estate planning since 2004. She graduated from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2003. She received her Bachelor’s degree in 1993 graduating magna cum laude from Saint Mary’s College (Notre Dame, IN). After college graduation, Erin worked on various political campaigns and for elected officials in the Midwest; she worked in broadcast journalism in Washington DC; came back to San Diego and worked in University fundraising, event planning and marketing before starting law school. She is a happy wife, a happy mother, and a happy attorney. She feels very blessed to be able to work with her father and sister. She loves estate planning because of the clients, “Everyone has a great story to tell….and it’s not many areas of law where the attorney gets regular thank you hugs from her clients! You really feel like you’re providing a great service, whether it be in writing new trusts, handling trust administrations upon the death of a loved one, or even for a probate. Clients are relieved when the matter is handled with care, efficiency, and professionalism.”
Sheila Foley McKinley has been working with the firm as a paralegal and office manager since 2007. She enjoys helping clients through the estate planning process and working with them on a personal level. Clients often comment on how much they appreciate her personal care, patience, and pleasant attitude in making the entire experience enjoyable. Sheila graduated from Northern Arizona University with a degree in special education. After teaching elementary education for 5 years she was delighted to join her family in their law practice. Sheila’s contribution has helped the firm continue providing excellent client service while building upon the strong reputation the firm has established. Sheila enjoys spending time with her family and with her husband Caleb and their daughter, Lucy.
